UK Roads Board introduction
‘In common with most of our neighbours and trading partners, the United Kingdom is facing major financial challenges at present. The resulting pressures on local and central government budgets will cause significant difficulties for highway authorities during the next four years, and many believe this situation will continue for at least one full spending round after that.
During such times, it is essential that highway authorities justify and prioritise their spending as objectively as possible and undertake their work in ways that make the best use of available resources. The UK Roads Board is at the forefront of providing help in these areas. Through the implementation and ongoing development of our Business Plan, we will continue to give good technical advice and promote management disciplines to ensure that UK highway engineers can deliver the best possible services to the travelling public’.
