SCANNER quality assurance and audit - Contractor's QA

Contractor's QA

The contractor provides and operates an effective and documented Quality Assurance regime covering all aspects of the SCANNER accredited surveys, including:

* vehicle operation and maintenance

* driver and operative training and instruction

* survey operation and record keeping

* data recording, processing, and analysis

* delivery of survey results

The survey contractor is required to carry out a number of checks on machine operation through a procedure of primary site checks conducted monthly, secondary site checks conducted weekly, and daily checks.

Primary Site Checks

These demonstrate the reproducibility of the SCANNER survey equipment. The procedures for these tests are:

* The contractor selects a suitable site (approximately 10km in length) and conducts a SCANNER survey with an accredited survey vehicle.

* This data is then used as a benchmark dataset to compare future surveys against.

* At approximately monthly intervals each accredited device conducts a repeat survey over a primary site.

* This data is compare to the benchmark survey by the contractor to ensure the survey device is operating correctly.

Both sets of data are also delivered to the auditor for assessment against the requirements in the specification. The auditor will compare the data sets to see if the assessment has been successful and if any further action is required.

Secondary Site Checks

These demonstrate the repeatability of the SCANNER survey equipment. The procedures for these tests are:

* The contractor selects a suitable site (ideally greater than 1km in length) and conducts a SCANNER survey with an accredited survey vehicle within 7 days of a successful primary site check.

* This data is then used as a benchmark dataset to compare future surveys against.

* At intervals not exceeding 7 days, each accredited device conducts a repeat survey over a secondary site.

* This data is compare to the benchmark survey by the contractor to ensure the survey device is operating correctly.

Daily Checks

These demonstrate the satisfactory operation of the SCANNER survey equipment. The procedures for these tests are:

* The contractor selects a suitable site (a minimum of 400m in length) and conducts a SCANNER survey with an accredited survey vehicle before and after each day’s work.

* This two data sets are compared by the contractor to ensure the survey device is operating correctly.
