Welcome to the August 2013 UKRLG newsletter

The Highways Maintenance Efficiency Programme and UK Roads Liaison Group have published an update to 'Maintaing a Vital Asset.  Strong leadership and commitment from elected councillors and their chief officers is vital in maintaining our highways. This leaflet explains how asset management can help councils to improve highway maintenance, by ensuring best use of available funds and demonstrating need for investment.

HMEP webinars

CIHT has been working closely with the Department for Transport, through the Highways Maintenance Efficiency Programme (HMEP) to help produce a series of events and webinars.

HMEP is a sector-led transformation programme designed to maximise returns from highways investment and deliver efficient and effective services.  Aimed at the local highways sector, the programme runs to 2018 and is sponsored by the Department for Transport who are providing £6 million funding.

HMEP is a partnership between public and private sectors, and the programme team consists of representatives from local and highway authorities, companies and central government.
