Well-Lit Highways

Well-Lit Highways, the code of practice for highway lighting management was published in November 2004. It provides local authorities with guidance on lighting management in an ever changing environment, creating a strong foundation for a positive and lasting road lighting maintenance policy. Adoption of the recommendations in this code will help the delivery of Best Value services. Whilst the code is specifically intended for road lighting, the principles are equally applicable to other forms of exterior lighting.

The Code was drafted by a team from Atkins Odlin www.atkinsodlin.co.uk on behalf of the UK Lighting Board. It is one of a suite of Codes commissioned by the UK Roads Liaison Group. For details of the other codes, see here.
