Performance indicators

The national governments of the UK monitor local authority performance in maintaining their road networks through a range of performance indicators.

In England, local authorities report a range of Best Value Performance Indicators.  These include reporting on carriageway and footway condition, and street lighting availability.  In addition, there are a number of indicators which are reported on as part of the Local Transport Plan delivery process.

The UK Roads Liaison Group and its Boards have responsibility for advising government on the scope and definitions of these indicators.
