UK Roads Liaison Group

Work programme

Building on the UKRLG’s standing priorities, the UK Roads Board’s major priorities for the three years to 2007/08 are:

  • publish a revamped maintenance Code of Practice in summer 2005; consider arrangements for future updating and put them in place;
  • advise on new Best Value Performance Indicators and other indicators for road condition to fit in with ODPM's annual consultation exercises;
  • oversee the introduction of Scanner automated carriageway condition surveys onto the local authority network;
  • consider the strategic review of UKPMS and, as appropriate, continue to develop UKPMS, consistent with optimum service delivery and resource input;
  • support local authority adoption of the CSS/TAG asset management framework and the move to Whole of Government Accounts;
  • advise annually on research needed to fulfil the above objectives and formalise funding arrangements among the Group members, by November each year.
